Authentication

According to international practices, documents issued in Nigeria should be authenticated and legalized by the Embassy or the Consulates-General of the People's Republic of China in Nigeria before these documents are sent to China to use.

Documents should be:

1. Documents should first be notarised by a local state-level Notary Public;

2. The Notarized document should be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

3. The Embassy of the People's Republic of China authenticates the official's signature and seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria;

Requirements:

1. Original documents to be authenticated;

2. One copy of the documents to be authenticated;

3. One clearly completed Application Form;

4. Copy of passport or ID of the applicant;

5. Introduction letter to state clearly the purpose of the authentication;

6. In cases of commercial authentication, a copy of Certificate of Incorporation and good standing of the company are required;

7. Other documents needed for the specified cases;

8. Copy of all above-mentioned documents should be attached before submission. Otherwise, the documents may be sent back for photocopy, because of which, if the authentication delayed, the Embassy will not be responsible for the consequences.

Pick-up and Fees:

1. 2500 naira per civil document and 5000 naira per commercial documents concerning business, property and finance;

2. Normal processing time: five working days;

3. 2 days express processing can be requested and the fee for expressing is 3000 naira.
